Oh thank you so much Our Irene. Sorry to hear about the arm, bad luck kidder. My family always seem to go out of their way to make it a good day for me, my grandchildren make the day even more special, Once again a big thanks.

PS. The 16th is on Sunday.

OH I see, angling for early presents now is it!

All the best, Codger.

I deemed it an appropriate stratagem in the 'present' financial climate, along with the old adage "If you don't beg you get nowt".

Folk in their 50's are not codgers, you cheeky pup!

16th on Sunday....So it is. Should have been going to Pickering War Weekend tomorrow, but our daughter-in-law's mum died last week and Jamie is going down tonight for the funeral, which is tomorrow, so we have to mind children, so can only go to Pickering Friday. I'll hopefully be wearing my 40s get-up, but with my arm in a sling I'll be the Walking Wounded! Poor Beccy should have started her new job on the day her mum died, but had to dash off to London. What a rotten couple of weeks we've had......no wonder I don't know what day it is!

Sounds like you have been in the wars good and proper, Our Irene. The children will always bring a smile in such sad times, My condolences to Beccy and family.

Thanks, Our Joseph. I won't feel as "glam" as on the photo-a-day pic, what with my black eye and purple knee, but will "make-do-and-mend" the best I can!

I have eye deer, jo anne, but Joseph said she left. 12th Oct 22:56.

That's the time/date of the post, not when she left. Although it may have been when she left as well. How would I know?

All I know is she left.

I didn't expect a kind of Spanish Inquisition!!

The Picture of Dorian Gray

"A portrait like this would set you far above all the young men in England, and ... and this young Adonis, who looks as if he was made of ivory and rose leaves."

Do I need to explain everything?

My Mrs has just seen Gwims video "Happy Birthday Joseph" and is trying very hard not to wet herself! No rude comments please.

Apparently Rose has left again. I still don't know why. In fact, I didn't know she'd returned.

She seems to be making a habit of this.

Hieronymous - Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose! (Gertrude Stein, 1935)

Replied: 17th Oct 2011 at 14:02

Posted by: hieronymous (1755)

So is it Rose who's left? Or is it Gertrude? Or is it Emily?

And when did they return? And why? And why did they leave?

What did Adonis or Joseph or whoever it was do to upset her/them?

And why is there a triumvirate? And, seemingly, a duo?

Why is the sky blue?

I am going for a lie down in a darkened room. Please excuse me.

We'll excuse you, this once, Hieronymous.

It's unfortunate you find this a thorny issue, but it is! It all stems from a simple misnomer, where Rose supplanted rose. Was there some plot involved? Should we have been guarding the rose in the rose garden?

Will it help if I second this:

Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose.

For a third time even (or should that be odd?):

Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose.

Three Rose Leaves

Following the rhetoric law of thricefold repetition to emphasize a point.

Rose is not a Rose, not a Rose, not a Rose.
